Why the name "Luctor"?
Luctor comes from Latin and means “I wrestle,” “I fight,” and “I struggle.” For us, this term represents not only the struggle on the mat, but also the inner battles we face in training and everyday life. It’s about perseverance, moving forward—and not losing sight of balance and enjoyment.
Our values
The values of martial arts: respect, responsibility, and mindfulness, should also be reflected in the clothing. But the reality is often different: mass-produced, made under unfair conditions, and rarely sustainable. For us, that doesn’t align with what truly defines this sport. That’s why we focus on quality, fair working conditions, and the most sustainable products possible. Not cheap, disposable goods, but clothing and equipment that embody these values. Together with you, we can bring this commitment to life. Thank you!
We are Philipp and Bryan, friends, training partners, and the founders of Luctor. We first met at the gym and were passionate about BJJ from the very beginning. Bryan has been practicing for two years, Philipp for four. Over time, training partners turned into friends (and even into a very spontaneous vacation), and from that grew the idea of building something of our own.
We know what this sport demands: time, discipline, and patience. At the same time, it gives so much in return: community, personal growth, and the willingness to constantly face new challenges. That’s exactly what motivated us to start Luctor. Early on, it became clear that we wanted to shape our own future and invest our energy into a project that unites our beliefs and passion. Luctor gives us the opportunity to do just that.
